About the role:

We are seeking a full-time Laboratory Technician who will be responsible for various laboratory testing including Organic Extractions for soil and water matrices. This individual will be responsible for following all safety and quality guidelines while maintaining a satisfactory production level. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Responsibilities

About you:

  • Performing laboratory tests as outlined by the SOPs.
  • Performing all scheduled calibrations, standardization and SPC tests.
  • Use correct methods in accordance with the established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality.
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with ALS health and safety policies, procedures.
  • Routine maintenance of testing instrumentation.
  • Properly completing all paperwork is used to track tests and their validity.
  • Loading data for tests performed.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe work area.
  • Accurately recording personal production and meeting production requirements.
  • Routing samples for additional testing as outlined by SOPs.
  • Storing and disposing of samples properly.
  • Complying with local and corporate quality assurance policies, as well as ISO 17025 lab accreditation requirements.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned, as required

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or laboratory experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of good laboratory practice.
  • Comfortable in a high paced production environment.

Physical Demands:

  • The ability to stand for intervals of up to 8 hours while working;
  • Able to speak and hear clearly while communicating with co-workers and managers;
  • Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate equipment and handle glassware;
  • Must have average vision and able to see to read reports and operate equipment;
  • Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone.
  • Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks.
  • Wear issued personal protective equipment (PPE) such as eye protection, gloves, etc., when required.
  • Ability to stand for a full shift.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities.
  • You may be exposed to unpleasant odors.
  • Please note that ALS operates 24/7 and will require day, afternoon, and evening shift work including weekends
